For the Fall 2011 semester, I will begin student teaching. Becoming a tutor will help me gain more experience working with students. Student teaching is the final step at SUNY Geneseo before graduation. I have taken numerous education courses regarding special needs and effective teaching tools. During my junior year, I worked with the Mount Morris Central School District as an after school volunteer tutor. I helped at risk students complete homework assignments, study for exams and practice organizational skills. Previous summer work experience includes working for the Long Beach Public Schools as an administrative intern. I worked for the Deputy Superintendent for Personnel assisting with clerical/office duties. The experience learned have been invaluable to my career. The summer position gave great insight to effective teaching and how to stay current in the field of education.
